5 Paws: Rescue Ink (as seen on The Ellen Show!)

Today, I was catching up on my Tivoed Ellen shows. I had the opportunity to learn about Rescue Ink. What an amazing group of guys and what an amazing group. If you haven't heard about them yet, they are a group of guys who are concerned about the problem of animal abuse.

They have several great programs as well as a rescue hotline:

Adoption: Huntsville, AL puppy needs a home

Sweet puppy found in Huntsville Alabama on Saturday, May 3, 2008. She was left behind when a business closed after they were evicted. She was left penned up behind the building. She somehow got free, but is nothing but skin and bones. She was at least well treated though and is just adorable!

Rant: Puppy Mills

Hats off to the Oprah show for featuring Lisa Ling's undercover investigation and exposure of Puppy Mills. I really hope her show has raised awareness about these horrible commercial breeding facilities. Please do your part to put these people out of business and behind bars. This week amidst all the financial news there was another story about the affect foreclosures are having on families and their pets. In response to the current crises, PAWS Chicago, a no kill shelter, has launched two new programs. Thank you PAWS Chicago and kuddos!!!

I love to read these kinds of stories. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2008/03/31/wkangaroo131.xml They always make me stop to think about why special relationships form between animals that more commonly wouldn't. A dog and a deer. A baby hippo and a giant tortoise. A dog and a baby kangaroo. Clearly, Rex is one of those special dogs.
